Support Groups
Cancer Support Network
The Cancer Support Network meets on the first Wednesday of every month in Room 100 at 6:30.
The Cancer Support Network is open to all who are currently experiencing cancer, family members, and survivors who have been in remission for several years. Our group's goals are to provide our congregation and community with education and information regarding cancer and to provide support for anyone currently experiencing cancer.
During our meetings we have scripture and prayer frequently followed by guest speakers. In the past we have had speakers from the Bloch Cancer Foundation, Cancer Action, the American Cancer Society, and Gilda's House. These groups provide goods and services to persons with cancer. We have also had presentations regarding physical therapy, nutrition, meditation, and the use of humor. We routinely pray for health and healing of members in our community who are ill.
If you would like to join us, please attend one of our meetings. If you have questions, please call Debby Engelbrecht (816-229-6177), coordinator of our group.
Pink Ribbon Ladies
Several years ago, some of us breast cancer survivors decided to form a breast cancer support group here at Blue Springs First United Methodist Church. The group is open to any breast cancer survivor and is a very loosely organized and casual group.
We meet the second Monday of each month at 11:30 at the Olive Garden in Blue Springs and have lunch and visit. We often discuss concerns we have and are there for each other. If anyone is interested in joining us we would be very happy to have you.
