Easter People,
We had a wonderful Holy Week and Easter at First UMC! It was a very busy time, full of blessings! We want to thank staff members and volunteers who worked so diligently to insure that everything was ready and beautiful. If we start naming individuals we will surely omit someone, and we don’t want to do that! So please, everyone, accept our thanks! It was all wonderful.
Easter Sunday we shared the news of the death of Terry Hartwig’s father. Services will be tomorrow, Wednesday the 26th, at the Salem United Church of Christ in Higginsville. Visitation is from 9:00 to 10:00am. The Memorial Service is at 10:00am.

Remember that this Saturday we are hosting a “Guest Time with the Pastors." It is at 10:00am, with brunch. We will meet in room 103. If you, or someone you know, is considering membership, please join us! Call the office at 229-8108 to let us know you are coming.
The Sunday after Easter is sometimes referred to as “Low Sunday”. Let’s make it a great day; there is good news to share! Christ is risen and is present in our lives and in the Church. We hope to see you in one of the worship services this weekend!
PET Project
The fifth Sunday Mission offering will benefit PET (Personal Energy Transportation) Project.
PET Project began in 1995 as a ministry for those in greatest need of mobility. The PET Project ministry continues growing to serve the overwhelming needs in some of the most desperate places in the world. The majority of the gifts of mobility have been the three-wheeled, hand-cranked wheelchairs now affectionately called "PETs."
The PET Project's mission is to provide appropriate mobility for all of God's children in need. This ministry seeks to provide mobility first for those in greatest need and with the least resources in poor or underdeveloped countries. The PET Project is a part of the ministry of Jesus Christ, whose disciples said, "In the name of Jesus Christ, arise and walk." Acts 3:6
There will be a PET in the narthex the next two weekends, and on March 29 and 30 the flood buckets will be out for your special offering. The cost of a PET is $250, and the offering will be presented at this year's annual conference in Springfield. PET is also one of the projects funded by Festival of Sharing.
The next two weekends when the PET is here, please write a "love note" to go along with the PET to its new owner, wishing them well and a better life with it. The love notes would let them know things about "our church here at FUMC" so they would know where their PET came from. Even photos and children's drawings would be great to include. All would go into the PET's toolbox for the new owner to read and remember who made contributions just for them to have a PET.
Grace and Peace to you,
